FAMILY RITUAL – PRIVACY POLICY

Family Ritual ("Family Ritual", "the App", "we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected when you use the Family Ritual mobile application.
By accessing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Who Can Use the App
Family Ritual is designed for parents or legal guardians aged 18 or older who wish to help manage routines for their children.
Children may only use the App under the supervision of a parent or guardian who has created an account. Children cannot independently create accounts.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information necessary to operate and improve the App.
Account Information – When a parent creates an account, we may collect: email address, encrypted password, parent profile name, child name, child age.
Usage Data – To support features such as routines, rewards, streaks, and progress tracking, we may collect: ritual completion history, streak progress, rewards earned, stickers unlocked, activity history within the App, feature usage events.
Analytics and Diagnostics – We use trusted third-party services to monitor app performance and improve the user experience. These services may collect technical information such as: device type, operating system version, app usage events, crash reports, performance metrics. Service providers may include: Firebase (Google) – analytics and infrastructure; Mixpanel – product analytics; Sentry – application error monitoring. These services process information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
4. Data Processing and Service Providers
Family Ritual relies on trusted third-party service providers to operate the App and improve reliability and performance. These providers may process limited technical and usage data on our behalf. Examples include: Firebase (Google), Mixpanel, Sentry. These providers process data under contractual obligations designed to protect user information. We do not authorize these providers to use personal data for advertising purposes within the Family Ritual service.
5. Purchases and Payments
Family Ritual may offer optional premium features through Apple In-App Purchases. Subscription options may include monthly and annual subscriptions. Payments are processed exclusively by Apple. Family Ritual does not collect or store payment card information. Apple's privacy policy governs payment processing.
6. Notifications and Reminders
Family Ritual may provide reminders designed to help families maintain routines. These reminders may be implemented using local notifications stored on the user's device. Future versions of the App may include push notifications.
7. Information We Do NOT Collect
Family Ritual does not collect or access: location data, contacts, photos, camera access, microphone recordings, biometric data.
8. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Family Ritual complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Key protections include: children cannot independently create accounts; accounts must be created and managed by a parent or guardian; the App does not allow children to communicate with other users, upload photos, share personal information, or create public profiles; Family Ritual does not display behavioral advertising to children; information associated with children is used only to support routine tracking and gamification features.
9. Children's Data Minimization Principle
Family Ritual is intentionally designed to minimize the collection of personal information from children. The App operates primarily through parent-managed accounts and collects only the information necessary to support routine tracking, rewards, and progress features. The App does not include: open communication systems between users, public user profiles, social networking features, targeted advertising systems. The service is designed to maintain a safe environment focused on family routine management.
10. No Behavioral Advertising to Children
Family Ritual does not display behavioral advertising to children and does not allow advertising networks to collect data from children within the App. Any analytics collected is used exclusively for improving functionality and reliability.
11. Anonymous Usage Metrics
We may collect aggregated and anonymized usage statistics to improve the usability and reliability of the App. These statistics do not identify individual users or children.
12. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including: encrypted authentication data, secure cloud infrastructure, restricted system access, monitoring for security incidents. Despite these measures, no system can guarantee absolute security.
13. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to operate the App and provide services. If an account is deleted, associated personal data will be permanently removed within a reasonable time period.
14. Account Deletion
Parents may delete their account directly from within the App. When an account is deleted: parent account data is removed, child profiles are deleted, routine history and progress data are erased.
15. International Users
Family Ritual may be accessed from different countries. By using the App, users consent to the transfer and processing of data in jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
16. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If changes are made, the "Last Updated" date will be modified accordingly. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
